More on the Barnyard Animals

I have so enjoyed this new series so much that I decided I would work on a few more of the animals today instead of anything else (except for that hour earlier this morning when I was knitting -couldn't resist). In addition to all of the fun animals I've already posted I added a turkey, goat (new favorite), mouse, and rabbit. You can expect two more, but I think that may be it for this wonderful series! Enjoy :)

Fun With Barnyarn Animals

Well it is time I unveiled my newest series. Yep, barnyard animal prints! So far there are six animals available but you can expect somewhere between 12-16ish animals total. I hope you like them!

Flickr Favorites (week 4)

This week Mitsy asked us to come up with a mosaic of what inspires us. I immediately set out to find the perfect grouping of colors because what inspires my art most is color. From bright and bold to earth tones and back again, I love it all.

But then I got to thinking about other aspects of my life, and I thought perhaps I would make a mosaic homage to the ocean, as my entire house is painted in the colors one might expect to find in a cottage by the sea. Or maybe I would make a tribute to those fighting chronic illnesses as someone very close to me battles with kidney failure daily, and he inspires me to push through my own problems everyday. But in the end I knew I had to go with what first popped into my head, and that is color.

I thought it would be quite fitting to pay tribute to color by selecting two of my absolute favorites to be featured in this weeks flickr favorites. I started with an image from Valley Forge National Park (it inspires me daily) and let everything else fall into place.   Enjoy!

New Animal

I just finished a new animal for my animal prints series. I hadn't designed a new print for this series in quite some time because I was so focused on working on the Animal Alphabet Prints. It was a lot of fun to make and I just couldn't resist adding the flower on the tail! (I find myself doing that more and more) Hope you enjoy!

Life Without a Yard

I live in a town house. It is pretty great after the apartment we were forced to live in for 3 years (okay...not forced, but really, it was awful). The only thing I really hate about townhouse life is the fact that we do not have our own yard, nor can we do anything we want with the yard that is behind our house --rules rules rules at these places! So what to do with no yard, but a desire to grow our own veggies? Yep. Overload our deck with plants:

If you are looking at this and thinking, "um. . .that is three pots and certainly not overwhelming anything. . ." that is simply one corner of our deck. We have hanging plants, potted plants, a veggie corner (pictured above), and a plant we are attempting to get to vine around the sides of the deck we share with our lovely neighbors (they really are wonderful!). What are we growing in the veggie corner you ask? Big Tomatoes, and Cherry Tomatoes, Green Beans (I love to eat them raw), and Sweet Peas. If all goes well we will expand next year. I'd really like to grow my own yellow squash in the worst way.

We aren't the only ones in the house enjoying the deck despite lack of a yard:

Someday I'll treat you with pictures of all of our indoor plants! (dozens people. dozens.)
- -Including the orchid we've kept alive for 3 years.

Flickr Favorites (week 3)

Have I already said how much I love Mitsy's idea to make a grouping of Flickr Favorites each week? Seriously, you all better be playing along! (check hers out for this week - gorgeous!)

Anyway, here is mine:

It is another grouping of a bunch of things I love. 1. Ranunculus (esp. orange) hold a special place in my heart as my florist aunt surprised me with a whole ton of them in the flowers for my wedding. 2. My dad and I have a collection of vintage cameras that we often get out in the summer to take pictures with. 3. My mom and I have a vintage button collection the size of Texas. Noooo clue what I'll do with all of them, but I LOVE to look at them! 4. I have mentioned I love yarn right? I do. A lot.

Well there you have it people! Flickr Favorites Week 3. Now go make yours!

Hidden Talent

My grandfather has been a long time stained glass enthusiast. He makes everything from Christmas Tree ornaments to Lamps. Big or Small, he's done it and I've always wanted to try my hand at it. So I did:

(please ignore dirty windows. . .it's rained for days and days and that is the result!)

Who knew I was going to be a natural!? I did 90% of the work all by myself, with minimal help here and there from my grandfather. Our next project? A clock with stained glass panel - it's going to rock! What's your hidden talent?

Flickr Favorites (week 2)

Here we go again! Mitsy has set up another round of Flickr Favorites and you know I had to play along. I even went with a theme! This weeks round of Flickr Favorites consists of things I love (well one would be a color I love): Birds, Yarn, Hand Sewn Lovlies, and Bright Teal
I hope you enjoy this little collage of a few things I adore.  Hop on over to Mitsy's blog and play along!

Flickr Favorites

So the lovely and talented Mitsy (aka. Artmind) did a post a few days ago of some of her favorite flickr photos. She then invited anyone else who had some flickr favorites to play along and show off their own favorites. I liked the idea and decided I would do just that:

I hope you enjoyed looking at some of my favorite flickr finds (one of them thanks to Mitsy's list!!). Now let's see yours!
