I love autumn.

There is something so perfect about the time of year when the leaves begin to change, and a cool wind is almost always constantly blowing.

I think that is my favorite thing about autumn. I love the still warm sun combined with a cool breeze. In the fall I can finally start to wear all my knit shawls, which I wait all year to do. It is the best time of year to walk the dogs for hours and hours. They love the changing leaves as much as I do.

August always reminds me that autumn is right around the corner.

I can't wait.

I can't believe it.

I'm another year older!

On Saturday, August 14th, I turned 26. Twenty-Five was a really good year for me. My husband started his road to great health with a kidney transplant, we went to Ireland and brought home the best souvenir ever (a bun in the oven!), and a whole host of other little things. I can't wait to see all of the great things in store for my 26 year old self. Somehow I think it's going to be even better than when I was 25 :)

Almost There

You may remember seeing the Scrappy Blanket.

But, I've neglected to show off the blanket that created all those balls of scrap yarn!

Last night it happened.

I dreamed about my baby. I dreamed she was in my arms. I dreamed her name, and sharing her with my extended family for the first time. I even dreamed about the mundane activity of changing her little diaper and her outfit. My mom told me this would happen, but I didn't believe her.

You see a few weeks ago I told her I was so anxious to find out what we were having. She simply replied, "Oh you'll know when you have the dream." I sort of laughed it off because that sounded sort of silly to me. But now that I 've had a dream about my baby, I feel like I know everything I was wondering about. Is it a boy? Is it a girl? What in the world will be name him/her? Last night instead of dreaming about something crazy and out of this world (baby books weren't lying when they said pregnant ladies have vivid and crazy dreams that are easy to remember) I dreamed all about my baby.

And I woke up with a smile on my face.

I can't wait to meet you little one.

Series Complete!

It's Done!

After much deliberation, I have finally finished the 9th, and final, print in my Camping Trip Series. Here it is:

Flickr Favorites - Love at First Site

What's your favorite destination?

That is the theme this week for the flickr favorites over on Artmind's Blog.

My mind wandered back to the many places I've been, and I wondered how I might ever choose a favorite. How about when I was a child and my parents took us to the same camping destination every year? Those trips bring back so many happy memories. Or what about my honey moon in Alaska? While part of the United States, I felt like I was in a totally foreign land. And of course, whose honey moon doesn't bring back more than a few happy memories? What about my trip to Italy? Or my most recent trip to Ireland? That trip will always be special, because that is the trip when we brought home a little extra passenger (due Feb 13).

But my favorite destination will always and forever be Paris.
I went to Paris when I was 19 years old.

I had decided to transfer schools the semester before hand, taking me 6hours away from all my family and friends. I was also in the process of switching to an art degree. A girl who was a mutual friend of one of my own friends suggested we sign up for an art history class that spent a few weeks over in Paris. I didn't really know her, or anyone else in the art department but I always wanted to travel and so I said yes.

The week before we were to leave I developed penumonia. I thought I might not be able to travel. Thankfully, mainly in part to strong antibiotics, I was able to go even though I was still a bit sick.

The plane ride was so long. I couldn't sleep because I was so excited.

Our room had a view of the Eiffel Tower. I couldn't believe my eyes.

Everything about that city fascinated me.

The sites, the sounds, the people, it was like nothing I had ever seen before (mind you, I grew up in a town that had not one single traffic light).

From there I made it to England, Italy, Mexico, Ireland, Jamaica, The Bahamas, and The Cayman Islands. I almost made it to Peru, but graduated just a tiny bit too early (It's on my wish list though!) I don't think I would've made it anywhere if I hadn't decided on a whim to go to Paris with a group of strangers. (who later became the best of friends!)

And I'll always remember Paris as the first, and best, destination I have ever been to.

Jumping The Gun

Is 12.5 weeks too early to be doing any sort of nursery decorating?

I sort of couldn't help myself after my parents dropped off the dresser. We even attempted to buy a crib, but it was out of stock in the store AND online. It's going to take over 10 weeks to get so I suppose it was a good thing we attempted to get that early. Once it comes in I'll take more detailed photos of the room.

A super cute pillow from Olive, and a cute Long Dog (which was sewn up by my mom) from JuneCraft.

Yeah...I'm just a little excited about the arrival of this baby. : )
